Job 35

Elihu spake moreover, and said, Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's? For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin? I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

35 Elihu spake moreover, and said,
2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?
3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
15 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.

Job 36

36 Elihu also proceeded, and said,
2 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.
3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
4 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.
5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.
8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;
9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.
10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.
14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.
16 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.
17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.
18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.
19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.
20 Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.
21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
22 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
23 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?
24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.
25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.
26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:
28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?
30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.
31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.
33 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.

35 एलीहू ने फिर कहा,

2 क्या तू यह ठीक समझता है कि तूने कहा, मेरा धर्म परमेश्वर के धर्म से बढ़कर है?

3 क्योंकि तू ने कहा, इससे तुझे क्या लाभ होगा? और, यदि मैं अपने पाप से शुद्ध हो जाऊँ, तो मुझे क्या लाभ होगा?

4 मैं तुझे और तेरे साथियों को उत्तर दूँगा।

5 आकाश की ओर दृष्टि करके देख, और उन बादलों को देख जो तुझ से ऊँचे हैं।

6 यदि तू पाप करे, तो उसके विरुद्ध तू क्या करता है? या यदि तेरे अपराध बढ़ जाएँ, तो उसके साथ तू क्या करता है?

7 यदि तू धर्मी है, तो तू उसे क्या देता है? या वह तेरे हाथ से क्या प्राप्त करता है?

8 तेरी दुष्टता से तेरे समान मनुष्य को हानि पहुँच सकती है; परन्तु तेरी धार्मिकता से मनुष्य के पुत्र को लाभ पहुँच सकता है।

9 अत्याचारों की अधिकता के कारण वे उत्पीड़ितों को चिल्लाने पर मजबूर करते हैं, वे वीरों के बाहुबल के कारण चिल्लाते हैं।

10 परन्तु कोई नहीं कहता, मेरा रचयिता परमेश्वर कहाँ है, जो रात में गीत गाता है;

11 जो हमें पृथ्वी के पशुओं से अधिक शिक्षा देता है, और आकाश के पक्षियों से अधिक बुद्धिमान बनाता है?

12 वहाँ वे चिल्लाते हैं, परन्तु कोई उत्तर नहीं देता, यह दुष्टों के घमण्ड के कारण है।

13 निश्चय परमेश्वर व्यर्थ की बातें नहीं सुनता, न ही सर्वशक्तिमान इस पर ध्यान देता है।

14 यद्यपि तू कहता है कि मैं उसे नहीं देखूँगा, फिर भी न्याय उसके सामने है; इसलिए तू उस पर भरोसा रख।

15 परन्तु अब, क्योंकि ऐसा नहीं है, उसने अपने क्रोध में दण्ड दिया है; परन्तु वह इसे बड़ी तीव्रता में नहीं जानता:

16 इस कारण अय्यूब व्यर्थ ही अपना मुँह खोलता है; वह बिना ज्ञान के बहुत सी बातें करता है।

36 एलीहू ने भी आगे बढ़कर कहा,

2 मुझे थोड़ी देर और रहने दे, और मैं तुझे बता दूँगा कि मुझे परमेश्वर की ओर से बोलना बाकी है।

3 मैं अपना ज्ञान दूर से लाऊँगा, और अपने रचयिता को धर्मी ठहराऊँगा।

4 क्योंकि सचमुच मेरे शब्द झूठे नहीं होंगे: जो ज्ञान में सिद्ध है, वह तेरे साथ है।

5 देख, परमेश्वर सामर्थी है, और किसी को तुच्छ नहीं जानता; वह बल और बुद्धि में सामर्थी है।

6 वह दुष्टों का प्राण नहीं बचाता, परन्तु कंगालों को न्याय देता है।

7 वह धर्मियों से अपनी आँखें नहीं फेरता, परन्तु वे राजाओं के संग सिंहासन पर विराजते हैं; हाँ, वह उन्हें सदा के लिये स्थिर करता है, और वे महान् होते हैं।

8 और यदि वे बेड़ियों में जकड़े हुए हों, और क्लेश की रस्सियों में जकड़े हुए हों;

9 तब वह उन्हें उनके काम और उनके अपराधों को दिखाता है, जो उन्होंने बहुत बढ़ा-चढ़ाकर किए हैं।

10 वह अनुशासन के लिए उनके कान भी खोलता है, और अधर्म से फिरने की आज्ञा देता है।

11 यदि वे उसकी आज्ञा मानें और उसकी सेवा करें, तो वे अपने दिन समृद्धि में बिताएँगे, और अपने वर्ष सुख में बिताएँगे।

12 परन्तु यदि वे उसकी आज्ञा न मानें, तो वे तलवार से नाश हो जाएँगे, और वे बिना ज्ञान के मर जाएँगे।

13 परन्तु कपटी मन के लोग क्रोध को बढ़ाते हैं; जब वह उन्हें बाँधता है, तब वे रोते नहीं।

14 वे जवानी में ही मर जाते हैं, और उनका जीवन अशुद्ध लोगों के बीच होता है।

15 वह दरिद्रों को उनके क्लेश में छुड़ाता है, और अन्धेर में उनके कान खोलता है।

16 इसी प्रकार वह तुझे भी सकेती से निकालकर चौड़े स्थान में ले जाता, जहाँ कोई तंगी न हो; और जो कुछ तेरी मेज़ पर रखा जाए वह चिकनाहट से भरा हो।

17 परन्तु तूने दुष्टों का न्याय पूरा किया है: न्याय और धर्म तुझे पकड़ते हैं।

18 क्रोध के कारण सावधान रहो, कहीं ऐसा न हो कि वह तुम्हें मार कर ले जाए; फिर बड़ी फिरौती भी तुम्हें नहीं छुड़ा सकेगी।

19 क्या वह तुम्हारे धन का मूल्य समझेगा? नहीं, न सोने का, न बल की सारी शक्तियों का।

20 उस रात की अभिलाषा मत करो, जब लोग अपने स्थान पर नाश हो जाते हैं।

21 सावधान रहो, अधर्म पर ध्यान मत दो, क्योंकि तुमने क्लेश से बढ़कर इसी को चुना है।

22 देखो, परमेश्वर अपनी सामर्थ्य से महान करता है; उसके समान कौन सिखाता है?

23 किसने उसे उसका मार्ग बताया है? या कौन कह सकता है, कि तू ने अधर्म किया है?

24 स्मरण रखो कि तुम उसके काम को बड़ा बताते हो, जिसे लोग देखते हैं।

25 हर कोई उसे देख सकता है; मनुष्य उसे दूर से देख सकता है।

26 देखो, परमेश्वर महान है, और हम उसे नहीं जानते, न ही उसके वर्षों की गिनती गिनना संभव है।

27 क्योंकि वह जल की बूंदों को छोटा करता है, और वे अपनी भाप के अनुसार वर्षा बरसाते हैं।
28 बादल उन्हें मनुष्य पर बहुतायत से बरसाते और बहाते हैं।
29 क्या कोई बादलों के फैलाव को, या उसके निवास के शोर को समझ सकता है?
30 देखो, वह उस पर अपना प्रकाश फैलाता है, और समुद्र की तह को ढक लेता है।
31 क्योंकि उनके द्वारा वह लोगों का न्याय करता है, और बहुतायत से भोजन देता है।
32 बादलों से वह प्रकाश को ढकता है, और उसे बीच में आने वाले बादल से चमकने की आज्ञा नहीं देता।
