Proverbs 21 - 22

The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water:he turneth it whithersoever he will. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts. To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.
31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.

Proverbs 22

22 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
2 The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
4 By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.
5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
11 He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
12 The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.
14 The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the Lord shall fall therein.
15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
17 Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
18 For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
19 That thy trust may be in the Lord, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
22 Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
23 For the Lord will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
26 Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
27 If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

21 राजा का हृदय जल की नदियों के समान यहोवा के हाथ में रहता है; वह उसे जिधर चाहे उधर मोड़ देता है।

2 मनुष्य का हर एक मार्ग उसकी अपनी दृष्टि में ठीक है, परन्तु यहोवा हृदय को जांचता है।

3 न्याय और न्याय करना यहोवा को बलिदान से अधिक प्रिय है।

4 घमण्डी दृष्टि, घमण्डी मन और दुष्टों का हल चलाना पाप है।

5 परिश्रमी के विचार केवल बहुतायत की ओर ले जाते हैं, परन्तु जो उतावली करता है, उसके पास केवल कमी ही होती है।

6 झूठ बोलकर धन इकट्ठा करना मृत्यु के खोजी व्यर्थ काम है।

7 दुष्टों की लूट उन्हें नाश कर देगी, क्योंकि वे न्याय करने से इन्कार करते हैं।

8 मनुष्य का मार्ग टेढ़ा और अजीब है, परन्तु शुद्ध मनुष्य का काम सीधा है।

9 बड़े घर में झगड़ालू औरत के साथ रहने से छत के कोने में रहना अच्छा है।

10 दुष्टों का मन बुराई की इच्छा करता है, उसका पड़ोसी उसकी दृष्टि में अनुग्रह नहीं पाता।

11 जब उपहास करनेवाले को दण्ड दिया जाता है, तो भोला बुद्धिमान बनता है; और जब बुद्धिमान को शिक्षा दी जाती है, तो वह ज्ञान प्राप्त करता है।

12 धर्मी मनुष्य दुष्टों के घराने को बुद्धिमानी से देखता है, परन्तु परमेश्वर दुष्टों को उनकी दुष्टता के कारण उलट देता है।

13 जो दीन-दुखियों की दोहाई पर कान नहीं लगाता, वह आप भी चिल्लाएगा, परन्तु उसकी सुनी नहीं जाएगी।

14 गुप्त में दिया हुआ दान क्रोध को शान्त करता है, और हृदय में दिया हुआ इनाम तीव्र क्रोध को।

15 न्याय करने में धर्मी को आनन्द होता है, परन्तु अधर्म करनेवाले विनाश को प्राप्त होते हैं।

16 जो मनुष्य समझ के मार्ग से भटक जाता है, वह मरे हुओं की मण्डली में रहेगा।

17 17 जो सुख-विलास से प्रीति रखता है, वह निर्धन होता है; जो दाखमधु और तेल से प्रीति रखता है, वह धनी नहीं होता।

18 दुष्ट लोग धर्मी के लिये छुड़ौती ठहरते हैं, और अपराधी सीधे लोगों के लिये।

19 झगड़ालू और क्रोधी स्त्री के संग रहने से जंगल में रहना उत्तम है।

20 बुद्धिमान के घर में धन और तेल दोनों ही बहुत हैं, परन्तु मूर्ख उसे उड़ा देता है।

21 जो धर्म और दया का अनुसरण करता है, वह जीवन, धर्म और महिमा पाता है।

22 बुद्धिमान मनुष्य वीरों के नगर पर चढ़ता है, और उनके भरोसे की शक्ति को गिरा देता है।

23 जो अपने मुंह और जीभ को वश में रखता है, वह अपने प्राण को विपत्तियों से बचाता है।

24 जो घमण्ड से क्रोध करता है, उसका नाम घमण्डी और अभिमानी ठट्ठा करनेवाला है।

25 आलसी की अभिलाषा ही उसे मार डालती है, क्योंकि उसके हाथ काम करने से इन्कार करते हैं।

26 वह दिन भर लालच करता रहता है, परन्तु धर्मी दान देता है और कुछ नहीं छोड़ता।

27 दुष्टों का बलिदान घिनौना है, फिर वह तो और भी घिनौना है, जब वह उसे दुष्ट मन से चढ़ाता है।

28 झूठा साक्षी नाश हो जाता है, परन्तु जो सुनता है, वह निरन्तर बोलता है।

29 दुष्ट मनुष्य अपना मुख कठोर कर लेता है, परन्तु धर्मी अपना मार्ग सीधा करता है।

30 यहोवा के विरुद्ध न तो कोई बुद्धि है, न समझ, न युक्ति।

31 युद्ध के दिन के लिये घोड़ा तैयार रहता है, परन्तु सुरक्षा यहोवा की ओर से है।

22 बहुत धन से अच्छा नाम और सोने-चाँदी से बढ़कर कृपालुता अधिक प्रिय है।

2 धनी और निर्धन दोनों एक साथ मिलते हैं: यहोवा उन सबका निर्माता है।

3 बुद्धिमान मनुष्य विपत्ति को देखकर छिप जाता है, परन्तु भोला मनुष्य आगे बढ़कर दण्ड पाता है।

4 नम्रता और यहोवा के भय से धन, महिमा और जीवन मिलता है।

5 कुटिल मनुष्य के मार्ग में काँटे और फन्दे होते हैं; जो अपने प्राण की रक्षा करता है, वह उनसे दूर रहता है।

6 बच्चे को उसी मार्ग पर चलना सिखाओ जिस पर उसे चलना चाहिए, और वह बुढ़ापे में भी उससे नहीं हटेगा।

7 धनी लोग निर्धनों पर प्रभुता करते हैं, और उधार लेनेवाला उधार देनेवाले का दास होता है।

8 जो अधर्म बोता है, वह व्यर्थ काटेगा, और उसके क्रोध की छड़ी टूट जाएगी।

9 जो उदार दृष्टि रखता है, वह धन्य होगा, क्योंकि वह अपनी रोटी कंगालों को देता है।

10 ठट्ठा करनेवाले को निकाल दे, तब झगड़ा मिट जाएगा; और झगड़ा और निन्दा दोनों ही समाप्त हो जाएंगे।

11 जो मन की शुद्धता से प्रीति रखता है, उसके वचनों की कृपा से राजा उसका मित्र होता है।

12 यहोवा की दृष्टि ज्ञान की रक्षा करती है, और वह अपराधी के वचनों को उलट देता है।

13 आलसी कहता है, बाहर सिंह है, मैं सड़कों में मारा जाऊंगा।

14 पराई स्त्रियों का मुंह गहिरा गड्ढा है; जो यहोवा से घृणा करता है, वह उसी में गिरेगा।

15 मूर्खता बालक के मन में बंधी रहती है, परन्तु ताड़ना की छड़ी उसे उससे दूर कर देती है।

16 जो अपना धन बढ़ाने के लिए निर्धनों पर अत्याचार करता है, और जो धनवानों को दान देता है, वह निश्चय ही अभाव में पड़ जाएगा।

17 अपना कान लगाकर बुद्धिमानों के वचन सुन, और मेरे ज्ञान की ओर अपना मन लगा।

18 क्योंकि यदि तू उन्हें अपने मन में रखे, तो यह मनभावनी बात होगी; वे तेरे होठों पर भी अच्छी लगेंगी।

19 इसलिये कि तेरा भरोसा यहोवा पर हो, मैं ने आज तुझे यह जता दिया है।

20 क्या मैं ने तुझे उत्तम बातें नहीं लिखीं, जो युक्ति और ज्ञान से भरी हुई हों,

21 कि मैं तुझे सत्य के वचनों की सच्चाई का ज्ञान कराऊं, कि जो तेरे पास भेजे जाएं, उनको तू सत्य के वचनों का उत्तर दे सके?

22 निर्धन को इसलिये न लूट, कि वह निर्धन है; और न फाटक में दीन लोगों पर अन्धेर करो;

23 क्योंकि यहोवा उनका मुकद्दमा लड़ेगा, और जो उनको लूटते हैं, उनके प्राणों को लूट लेगा।

24 क्रोधी मनुष्य से मित्रता न करना; और न क्रोधी मनुष्य के पास जाना;

25 कहीं ऐसा न हो कि तू उसके चालचलन को सीख ले, और अपने प्राणों के लिये फन्दे में फंस जाए।

26 तू उन लोगों में से न हो जो हाथ मारते हैं, और न ऋण के जमानतदार होते हैं। 27 यदि तेरे पास देने को कुछ न हो, तो वह तेरे नीचे से तेरा बिछौना क्यों छीन ले? 28 उस पुराने सीमा-चिह्न को न हटा, जो तेरे पुरखाओं ने ठहराया है। 29 क्या तू किसी ऐसे मनुष्य को देखता है जो अपने काम में परिश्रमी है? वह राजाओं के सम्मुख खड़ा होगा; वह तुच्छ लोगों के सम्मुख खड़ा न होगा।
