Chapter 15

 

 

1And He spoke up and said to me: 'Do not be afraid, Enoch, you true human being, and scribe of truth and righteousness. Come here and listen to my voice.' And I heard his voice 2 'Go to the Watchers of heaven, those who sent you to petition for them, and say to them, "You are supposed to petition for humans, and not humans for you. 3By what rationale do you forsake the lofty and holy heaven, which endures for ever, and sleep with women, and become unclean with the daughters of humans, and take for yourselves wives just as the children of earth do, and beget children for yourselves, even giants as sons? 4You were holy, and spirits that live for ever, yet you became unclean with the blood of women, and begat children with the blood of flesh, and with the daughters of humans. And you lusted after flesh and blood just as they do who die and perish. 5For this reason I have given them females: so they might put seed in them and in this manner produce children with them, so that none of the work on the earth will vanish. 6But you were spirits that live for ever, and not dying throughout all the generations of eternity. 7This is why with you I did not create females; you were spirits of heaven, your dwelling-place was in heaven. 8And now the giants, who were produced from spirits and flesh, will be spirits mighty upon the earth, and on the earth shall their dwelling-place be. 9Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; for since they came into existence from higher beings, and holy Watchers were the source of their creation and first foundation, they will be called evil spirits. 10The spirits of heaven, their dwelling-place will be in heaven, and the spirits which they have produced on the earth, their dwelling-place will be on the earth. 11And the spirits of the giants are a malevolent cloud, corrupt and fallen, and working against and overthrowing The Book of Enoch the Prophet 20 the earth; hard and giant spirits, and making haste and eating nothing, but are spirits hungry and thirsty and always attacking. 12And these will rise up against the children of humankind and women, because they came from them in the days of slaughter and destruction and death

Chapter 16

 

 

1The Nephalim, the spirits which came forth from their bodies, will go on destroying, uncondemned. Thus they will destroy until the day of the end, until the great judgment, in which the great aeon will be completed. 2And now about the Watchers, who are sending you to petition for them, who used to be in heaven: 3 'You were in heaven, and there was no mystery that was not revealed to you— even the mystery of God you have come to know; and in the hardness of your hearts this you disclosed to the women, and by this mystery the females and humankind have multiplied wickedness over the earth.' 4Say therefore to them: 'There will be no peace for you.' "
