Psalms 137 - 138

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song;and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
4 How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?
5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
6 If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.
7 Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.
8 O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.
9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

Psalm 138

138 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.
2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, when they hear the words of thy mouth.
5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the Lord: for great is the glory of the Lord.
6 Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

137 बाबुल की नदियों के किनारे हम बैठे थे, हाँ, हम रोए थे, जब हमने सिय्योन को याद किया।
2 हमने उसके बीच में विलो पर अपनी वीणाएँ लटका दीं।
3 क्योंकि वहाँ जो लोग हमें बंदी बनाकर ले गए थे, उन्होंने हमसे एक गीत माँगा; और जिन्होंने हमें बर्बाद किया, उन्होंने हमसे आनन्द माँगा, और कहा, हमारे लिए सिय्योन का एक गीत गाओ।
4 हम पराए देश में यहोवा का गीत कैसे गाएँ?
5 हे यरूशलेम, यदि मैं तुझे भूल जाऊँ, तो मेरा दाहिना हाथ अपनी चतुराई भूल जाए।
6 यदि मैं तुझे स्मरण न करूँ, तो मेरी जीभ मेरे मुँह की छत से चिपक जाए; यदि मैं यरूशलेम को अपने मुख्य आनन्द से अधिक पसन्द न करूँ।
7 हे यहोवा, यरूशलेम के दिन एदोम के बच्चों को स्मरण कर; जिन्होंने कहा, इसे उखाड़ फेंक, इसे उखाड़ फेंक, यहाँ तक कि इसकी नींव तक उखाड़ फेंक।
8 हे बाबुल की बेटी, जो नाश होनेवाली है; धन्य होगा वह व्यक्ति, जो तुझे उसी प्रकार प्रतिफल देगा जैसा तूने हमारी सेवा की है।
9 धन्य होगा वह व्यक्ति, जो तेरे बच्चों को लेकर पत्थरों पर पटक देगा।

138 मैं पूरे मन से तेरा धन्यवाद करूंगा, देवताओं के सामने मैं तेरा भजन गाऊंगा।

2 मैं तेरे पवित्र मन्दिर की ओर दण्डवत् करूंगा, और तेरी करुणा और सच्चाई के कारण तेरे नाम की स्तुति करूंगा, क्योंकि तू ने अपने वचन को अपने सब नामों से अधिक महान किया है।

3 जिस दिन मैं ने पुकारा, उसी दिन तू ने मुझे उत्तर दिया, और मेरे मन में बल देकर मुझे दृढ़ किया।

4 हे यहोवा, जब वे तेरे मुंह के वचन सुनेंगे, तब पृथ्वी के सब राजा तेरा धन्यवाद करेंगे।

5 हां, वे यहोवा के मार्गों में गाएंगे, क्योंकि यहोवा की महिमा बड़ी है।

6 यद्यपि यहोवा महान है, फिर भी वह दीन लोगों का आदर करता है, परन्तु अभिमानियों को वह दूर से ही पहचान लेता है।

7 यद्यपि मैं संकट के बीच में चलूं, तौभी तू मुझे जिलाएगा; तू मेरे शत्रुओं के क्रोध के विरुद्ध अपना हाथ बढ़ाएगा, और तेरा दाहिना हाथ मुझे बचाएगा।

8 यहोवा मेरे लिये सब कुछ पूरा करेगा; हे यहोवा, तेरी करुणा सदा की है; अपने हाथ के कामों को मत छोड़।
