Matthew 15 - 16

Then came to Jesus' scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

Matthew 15

15 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.

Matthew 16

16 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

15 तब यरूशलेम के शास्त्री और फरीसी यीशु के पास आकर कहने लगे,
2 तेरे चेले पुरनियों की रीति क्यों टालते हैं? वे रोटी खाते समय हाथ नहीं धोते।
3 उसने उनको उत्तर दिया, “तुम भी अपनी रीति से परमेश्वर की आज्ञा क्यों टालते हो?”
4 क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने आज्ञा दी है, “अपने पिता और अपनी माता का आदर करना; और जो कोई पिता या माता को शाप दे, वह मार डाला जाए।”
5 परन्तु तुम कहते हो, “जो कोई अपने पिता या अपनी माता से कहे, ‘यह भेंट है, जिस किसी बात से तुम्हें मुझसे लाभ हो सकता है;’;
6 और अपने पिता या अपनी माता का आदर न करे, तो वह स्वतंत्र हो जाएगा।” इस प्रकार तुमने अपनी रीति से परमेश्वर की आज्ञा को निष्फल कर दिया है।
7 हे कपटियो, यशायाह ने तुम्हारे विषय में ठीक भविष्यवाणी की, कि ‘

8 ये लोग मुँह से तो मेरे समीप आते हैं, और होठों से तो मेरा आदर करते हैं; परन्तु उनका मन मुझसे दूर रहता है।”

9 परन्तु वे व्यर्थ मेरी आराधना करते हैं, क्योंकि मनुष्यों की आज्ञाओं को धर्मोपदेश करके सिखाते हैं।

10 तब उसने भीड़ को अपने पास बुलाकर उनसे कहा, सुनो और समझो।

11 जो मुँह में जाता है, वह मनुष्य को अशुद्ध नहीं करता, परन्तु जो मुँह से निकलता है, वही मनुष्य को अशुद्ध करता है।

12 तब उसके चेले उसके पास आए और उससे कहा, क्या तू जानता है कि फरीसी यह बात सुनकर ठोकर खा गए?

13 उसने उत्तर दिया, कि जो पौधा मेरे स्वर्गीय पिता ने नहीं लगाया, वह जड़ से उखाड़ दिया जाएगा।

14 उन्हें छोड़ दो: वे अंधों के अंधे अगुवे हैं। और यदि अंधा अंधों का मार्ग दिखाए, तो दोनों ही गड़हे में गिर पड़ेंगे।

15 तब पतरस ने उस से कहा, हमें यह दृष्टान्त समझा।

16 यीशु ने कहा, क्या तुम भी अब तक नासमझ हो?

17 क्या तुम अब तक नहीं समझते कि जो कुछ मुँह के द्वारा भीतर जाता है, वह पेट में जाता है और संडास में निकल जाता है?
18 परन्तु जो कुछ मुँह से निकलता है, वह मन से निकलता है; और वही मनुष्य को अशुद्ध करता है।
19 क्योंकि बुरे विचार, हत्या, परस्त्रीगमन, व्यभिचार, चोरी, झूठी गवाही और निन्दा मन से ही निकलती हैं।
20 ये ही हैं जो मनुष्य को अशुद्ध करती हैं, परन्तु बिना हाथ धोए भोजन करना मनुष्य को अशुद्ध नहीं करता।
21 तब यीशु वहाँ से चला गया, और सोर और सैदा के देशों में चला गया।
22 और देखो, उसी देश से एक कनानी स्त्री निकली, और उससे चिल्लाकर कहने लगी, हे प्रभु, दाऊद की सन्तान, मुझ पर दया कर; मेरी बेटी दुष्टात्मा से बहुत सता रही है।
23 परन्तु उसने उसे एक बात का उत्तर न दिया। और उसके चेले आकर उससे विनती करने लगे, कि उसे विदा कर दे; क्योंकि वह हमारे पीछे चिल्ला रही है।
24 परन्तु उसने उत्तर दिया, कि मैं इस्राएल के घराने की खोई हुई भेड़ों को छोड़ किसी और के पास नहीं भेजा गया हूँ।
25 तब वह उसके पास आई और उसे प्रणाम करके कहने लगी, हे प्रभु, मेरी सहायता कर।
26 परन्तु उसने उत्तर दिया, कि बच्चों की रोटी लेकर कुत्तों के आगे डालना उचित नहीं।
27 उसने कहा, सच है प्रभु, तौभी कुत्ते अपने स्वामियों की मेज से गिरे हुए टुकड़ों में से खाते हैं।
28 तब यीशु ने उसको उत्तर दिया, कि हे स्त्री, तेरा विश्वास बड़ा है; जैसा तू चाहती है वैसा ही तेरे लिए हो। और उसकी बेटी उसी घड़ी चंगी हो गई।
29 तब यीशु वहाँ से चला गया, और गलील की झील के पास आया; और एक पहाड़ पर चढ़कर वहाँ बैठ गया।
30 और बड़ी भीड़ उसके पास आई, और अपने साथ लंगड़ों, अंधों, गूंगों, टुण्डों, और बहुत से अन्य लोगों को लेकर उसके पास आई, और उन्हें यीशु के पांवों पर डाल दिया; और उसने उन्हें चंगा किया:
31 यहाँ तक कि जब लोगों ने देखा कि गूंगे बोलने लगे, टुण्डे चंगे हो गए, लंगड़े चलने लगे, और अंधों को देखने लगे, तो उन्होंने अचम्भा किया; और इस्राएल के परमेश्वर की स्तुति की।
32 तब यीशु ने अपने चेलों को पास बुलाकर कहा, मुझे इस भीड़ पर तरस आता है, क्योंकि ये तीन दिन से मेरे साथ हैं, और उनके पास खाने को कुछ नहीं है; और मैं इन्हें भूखा नहीं विदा करूँगा, कहीं ऐसा न हो कि ये मार्ग में थक जाएँ।
33 उसके चेलों ने उससे कहा, जंगल में हमें इतनी रोटी कहाँ से मिले कि इतनी बड़ी भीड़ तृप्त हो?
34 यीशु ने उनसे पूछा, तुम्हारे पास कितनी रोटियाँ हैं? उन्होंने कहा, सात, और थोड़ी सी छोटी मछलियाँ।
35 और उसने भीड़ को भूमि पर बैठने की आज्ञा दी।
36 तब उसने वे सात रोटियाँ और मछलियाँ लीं, और धन्यवाद करके उन्हें तोड़ा, और अपने चेलों को दिया, और चेलों ने भीड़ को।
37 और सब खाकर तृप्त हो गए: और उन्होंने बचे हुए टुकड़ों से भरी हुई सात टोकरियाँ उठाईं।
38 और खानेवाले स्त्रियों और बच्चों को छोड़ चार हज़ार पुरुष थे।
39 तब उसने भीड़ को विदा किया, और जहाज़ पर चढ़कर मगदला के देश में आया।

16 तब सदूकियों के साथ फरीसी भी आए और उस पर परीक्षा करने लगे, और उस से विनती की, कि हमें आकाश का कोई चिन्ह दिखाए।
2 उसने उनको उत्तर दिया, “सांझ को तुम कहते हो, कि मौसम अच्छा रहेगा क्योंकि आकाश लाल है।”
3 और भोर को कहते हो, “आज मौसम खराब रहेगा क्योंकि आकाश लाल और धुंधला है।” हे कपटियों, तुम आकाश का रूप तो देख सकते हो, परन्तु समयों के चिन्हों को नहीं पहचान सकते?
4 यह दुष्ट और व्यभिचारी पीढ़ी चिन्ह ढूँढ़ती है, परन्तु यूहन्ना भविष्यद्वक्ता के चिन्ह को छोड़ कोई और चिन्ह उन्हें न दिया जाएगा। तब वह उन्हें छोड़कर चला गया।”
5 और जब उसके चेले उस पार पहुँचे, तो रोटी लेना भूल गए थे।
6 तब यीशु ने उनसे कहा, “सावधान रहो, और फरीसियों और सदूकियों के खमीर से चौकस रहो।”
7 तब वे आपस में विचार करने लगे, कि हम ने रोटी नहीं ली।
8 यह जानकर यीशु ने उनसे कहा, हे अल्पविश्वासी लोगो, तुम आपस में क्यों विचार कर रहे हो कि हम रोटी नहीं लाए?
9 क्या तुम अब तक नहीं समझे, और न ही स्मरण कर पाए कि पाँच हज़ार लोगों के लिए पाँच रोटियाँ और तुमने कितनी टोकरियाँ उठाई थीं?
10 न ही चार हज़ार लोगों के लिए सात रोटियाँ और तुमने कितनी टोकरियाँ उठाई थीं?
11 तुम यह क्यों नहीं समझते कि मैंने रोटी के विषय में तुम से यह नहीं कहा कि तुम फरीसियों और सदूकियों के खमीर से सावधान रहो?
12 तब उनकी समझ में आया कि उसने उन्हें रोटी के खमीर से नहीं, परन्तु फरीसियों और सदूकियों की शिक्षा से सावधान रहने को कहा था।
13 जब यीशु कैसरिया फिलिप्पी के इलाके में आया, तो उसने अपने चेलों से पूछा, “लोग मनुष्य के पुत्र को क्या कहते हैं?” 14 उन्होंने कहा, “कुछ लोग कहते हैं कि तू यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देनेवाला है, कुछ एलिय्याह, और कुछ यिर्मयाह या भविष्यद्वक्ताओं में से कोई एक।” 15 उसने उनसे कहा, “परन्तु तुम मुझे क्या कहते हो?” 16 शमौन पतरस ने उत्तर दिया, “तू जीवते परमेश्वर का पुत्र मसीह है।” 17 यीशु ने उसको उत्तर दिया, “हे शमौन, योना के पुत्र, तू धन्य है; क्योंकि मांस और लहू ने नहीं, परन्तु मेरे स्वर्गीय पिता ने यह बात तुझ पर प्रगट की है।” 18 मैं भी तुझ से कहता हूँ, कि तू पतरस है, और इस चट्टान पर मैं अपनी कलीसिया बनाऊँगा, और अधोलोक के द्वार उस पर प्रबल न होंगे। 19 मैं तुझे स्वर्ग के राज्य की कुंजियाँ दूँगा: और जो कुछ तू पृथ्वी पर बाँधेगा, वह स्वर्ग में बाँधा जाएगा; और जो कुछ तू पृथ्वी पर खोलेगा, वह स्वर्ग में खोला जाएगा।” 20 तब उसने अपने चेलों को आज्ञा दी कि वे किसी से न कहें कि वह यीशु मसीह है।
21 उस समय से यीशु अपने चेलों को बताने लगा कि उसे यरूशलेम जाना होगा, और पुरनियों, प्रधान याजकों और शास्त्रियों से बहुत दुख उठाना होगा, मार डाला जाना होगा, और तीसरे दिन जी उठना होगा।
22 तब पतरस उसे अलग ले जाकर झिड़कने लगा, और कहने लगा, “हे प्रभु, ऐसा न हो; तुझ पर ऐसा न होगा।”
23 परन्तु उसने फिरकर पतरस से कहा, “हे शैतान, मेरे साम्हने से दूर हो जा; तू मेरे लिये ठोकर का कारण है; क्योंकि तू परमेश्वर की बातों पर नहीं, परन्तु मनुष्यों की बातों पर मन लगाता है।”
24 तब यीशु ने अपने चेलों से कहा, “यदि कोई मेरे पीछे आना चाहे, तो अपने आप का इन्कार करे और अपना क्रूस उठाए, और मेरे पीछे हो ले।”
25 क्योंकि जो कोई अपना प्राण बचाना चाहे, वह उसे खोएगा; और जो कोई मेरे लिये अपना प्राण खोएगा, वह उसे पाएगा।”
26 यदि मनुष्य सारे जगत को प्राप्त करे, और अपने प्राण की हानि उठाए, तो उसे क्या लाभ होगा? या मनुष्य अपने प्राण के बदले क्या देगा?
27 क्योंकि मनुष्य का पुत्र अपने स्वर्गदूतों के साथ अपने पिता की महिमा में आएगा, और उस समय वह हर एक को उसके कामों के अनुसार प्रतिफल देगा।
28 मैं तुम से सच कहता हूँ, कि जो यहाँ खड़े हैं, उनमें से कितने ऐसे हैं, कि जब तक मनुष्य के पुत्र को उसके राज्य में आते हुए न देख लेंगे, तब तक मृत्यु का स्वाद कभी न चखेंगे।
