Isaiah 21 - 22

The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land. A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease. Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.

4 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.
5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.
6 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.
7 And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:
8 And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:
9 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.
10 O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.
11 The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?
12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.
13 The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.
14 The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.
15 For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.
16 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:
17 And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the Lord God of Israel hath spoken it.

Isaiah 22

22 The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?
2 Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.
3 All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which have fled from far.
4 Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people.
5 For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord God of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.
6 And Elam bare the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.
7 And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.
8 And he discovered the covering of Judah, and thou didst look in that day to the armour of the house of the forest.
9 Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool.
10 And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.
11 Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.
12 And in that day did the Lord God of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:
13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.
14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the Lord of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord God of hosts.
15 Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,
16 What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?
17 Behold, the Lord will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.
18 He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.
19 And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.
20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:
21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.
24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
25 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the Lord hath spoken it.

13 अरब पर भारी बोझ। हे ददानी के यात्री दल, तुम अरब के जंगल में ठहरोगे।

14 तेमा देश के निवासी प्यासे को पानी पिलाते थे, और भागने वालों को रोटी देकर रोकते थे।

15 क्योंकि वे तलवारों से, नंगी तलवार से, झुके हुए धनुष से, और युद्ध की भयंकरता से भागते थे।

17 और केदार के शूरवीरों अर्थात् धनुर्धारियों की बची हुई संख्या घट जाएगी, क्योंकि इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने ऐसा कहा है।

22 दर्शन की घाटी का बोझ। अब तुझे क्या हो गया है कि तू पूरी तरह से छतों पर चढ़ गया है?

2 तू जो हलचल से भरा हुआ है, तू एक कोलाहलपूर्ण नगर है, आनन्दित नगर है: तेरे मारे गए लोग तलवार से नहीं मारे गए, न ही युद्ध में मरे हैं।

3 तेरे सब शासक एक साथ भाग गए हैं, वे धनुर्धारियों द्वारा बंधे हुए हैं: तेरे यहाँ जितने भी पाए जाते हैं, वे सब एक साथ बंधे हुए हैं, जो दूर से भाग गए हैं।

4 इसलिए मैंने कहा, मेरी ओर से दूर हो जा; मैं फूट-फूट कर रोऊँगा, मुझे सांत्वना देने का प्रयास मत करो, क्योंकि मेरे लोगों की बेटी लूटी गई है।

5 क्योंकि यह दर्शन की घाटी में सेनाओं के परमेश्वर यहोवा द्वारा संकट, रौंदने और घबराहट का दिन है, दीवारें तोड़ दी जाएँगी, और पहाड़ों पर चिल्लाया जाएगा।

7 और ऐसा होगा कि तेरी उत्तम घाटियाँ रथों से भरी होंगी, और घुड़सवार फाटक पर पंक्तिबद्ध होंगे।

8 और उसने यहूदा के आवरण को प्रकट किया, और तूने उस दिन वन के भवन के हथियारों पर ध्यान दिया।

12 और उस दिन सेनाओं के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने रोने, विलाप करने, सिर मुड़वाने और टाट बाँधने को बुलाया। 13 और देखो, लोग हर्ष और आनन्द मना रहे हैं, बैलों का वध कर रहे हैं, भेड़ों को मार रहे हैं, मांस खा रहे हैं और दाखमधु पी रहे हैं। आओ, हम खाएँ और पिएँ, क्योंकि कल हम मर जाएँगे। 14 और सेनाओं के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने मेरे कानों में यह प्रगट किया, कि निश्चय यह अधर्म तुम से तब तक दूर न होगा, जब तक तुम मर न जाओ, सेनाओं के परमेश्वर यहोवा की यही वाणी है। 15 सेनाओं के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने यों कहा, जा, उस खजांची के पास, अर्थात् शेबना के पास, जो भवन के ऊपर है, जा, और कह, 16 यहाँ तेरा क्या है? और यहाँ तेरा कौन है, कि तू ने अपने लिए यहाँ कब्र खुदवाई है, जैसे कोई ऊँचे स्थान पर कब्र खुदवाता है, और अपने लिए चट्टान में घर खुदवाता है? 17 देख, यहोवा तुझे बड़ी बन्धुआई में ले जाएगा, और निश्चय तुझे छिपाए रखेगा।

18 वह निश्चय तुझे बलपूर्वक घुमाएगा और गेंद की नाईं एक बड़े देश में फेंक देगा; वहीं तू मर जाएगा, और वहीं तेरे वैभव के रथ तेरे स्वामी के घराने की लज्जा का कारण बनेंगे।

19 और मैं तुझे तेरे स्थान से निकाल दूंगा, और तेरे राज्य से तुझे नीचे गिरा दूंगा।

20 और उस दिन ऐसा होगा, कि मैं अपने दास हिल्किय्याह के पुत्र एल्याकीम को बुलाऊंगा:

21 और मैं उसको तेरा वस्त्र पहनाऊंगा, और तेरी कमर बान्धकर उसे दृढ़ करूंगा, और तेरी प्रभुता उसके हाथ में सौंप दूंगा; और वह यरूशलेम के निवासियों और यहूदा के घराने का पिता होगा।

22 और मैं दाऊद के घराने की कुंजी उसके कंधे पर रखूंगा; तब वह खोलेगा, और कोई बन्द न करेगा; और वह बन्द करेगा, और कोई खोल न सकेगा।

23 और मैं उसको एक दृढ़ स्थान में कील के समान ठोंक दूंगा; और वह अपने पिता के घराने के लिये एक महिमामय सिंहासन ठहरेगा।

24 और उसके पिता के घराने का सारा वैभव, वंश और सन्तान, सब प्रकार के छोटे-छोटे पात्र, प्यालों से लेकर मदिरा के बरतनों तक, सब उस पर टाँगे रहेंगे।

25 सेनाओं के यहोवा की यह वाणी है, उस दिन वह कील जो दृढ़ स्थान में ठोंकी गई है, निकाली जाएगी, और काटकर गिरा दी जाएगी; और उस पर का बोझ भी तोड़ डाला जाएगा; क्योंकि यहोवा ने ऐसा कहा है।
